Cash vs Gems: run purchases & health upgrades

Plan cash spending on run weapons, health and abilities, and understand how these purchases differ from lobby Gem upgrades.

Contents

Spend Gems in the lobby; use cash during a run. Both currencies appear in the same recording, but they buy different things.

Gems and cash

Currency Where it appears Examples
Pink Gems Lobby shops and upgrades Medic 15,000; Shorty 5,000; ability upgrades
Cash ($) Run HUD Weapon progression, health and ability use

Weapon progression during a run

Next weapon shown Cash price
Shotgun $150
Burst Rifle $750
Minigun $2,500

These are recorded next-weapon purchase buttons, not the lobby gem prices. Late-run footage shows Minigun at MAX. For lobby Gem costs and before/after stats, use the weapon upgrade guide.

Health upgrades

The run begins with a HEALTH [100] button priced at $10. A later snapshot shows HEALTH [110] and a $20 next purchase. Late footage shows HEALTH [300] / MAX. The footage does not supply a complete intermediate cost table.

Barricade prices

Barricade placement uses run cash, while its lobby upgrades use Gems. The reviewed in-run button rises from $54 in an early snapshot to $390 in a late one. Budget from the current button rather than assuming a fixed $50 price.

The Barricade upgrade guide contains the level-one and level-two upgrade table, timestamped placement prices and tutorial clip.

Grenade and Airstrike

Grenade is shown at $50 in both early and late-run snapshots. Airstrike uses an ULT charge meter. The Survivor page lists the grenade upgrade chain and Airstrike upgrades.

Spending priorities

As general advice, check the current weapon, health and ability buttons before spending: they compete for run cash. Keep lobby decisions separate, including weapon upgrades and Barricade upgrades. If your run is interrupted by a death, see death and spectating.
